Andrea Lemaitre


Ms. Lemaître is enjoying her 23rd year teaching dance both in San Diego and abroad in Paris, France. Her philosophy of teaching centers around; inclusion, equity, and diversity. Currently on the faculty at San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, Ms. Lemaitre teaches has taught all levels of Modern, Choreography Technique, and beginning levels of Jazz/Tap. She has extensive experience choreographing concert dance as well as musical theatre for high school and university students in the San Diego area. In 2018, Ms. Lemaitre was asked by the California Dance Education Association to present her work at the National Dance Education Organization’s Conference. While living and working in Paris, France, she attended Paris Université VIII to study French culture. In addition to cultural studies, Ms. Lemaître trained at the prestigious Écôle de Formation, Studio Harmonic under her mentor Thierry Verger. Ms. Lemaître was thrilled when asked to perform at the Palais de Congrés in Versaillles, France. Her work in Paris included creating curriculum for a Movement for Actors course at the university Hautes Études Commercial (H.E.C) and teaching the class both in French and English. She is frequently asked to teach at the National and Regional High School Dance Festivals. At the district, Ms. Lemaitre is Chair of the San Diego Unified Visual and Performing Arts Advisory Council. At the state level, she serves on the Subject Matter Requirements for the CSET for Dance. Ms. Lemaitre was honored with the San Diego State University Dance Alumni of the Year 2018 award.
