Geneva N. McCoy is a graduate from San Diego State University. She holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics with a Minor in Classical Music concurrently with advanced TESOL (Teaching English as a Foreign or Second Language) and a Bilingual Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development Teaching Certification. Mrs. McCoy has specialized in curriculum design, assessment, and placement for both native and non-native English learners throughout her educational and professional career. She has taught a variety of English classes both in the U.S, China, and remotely to international students abroad as well as international English immersion programs. Though she has a passion for teaching English, she additionally studied music and trained as a vocalist since early childhood and has used some of these skills to also teach students theatre. During the 2020-2021 school year Mrs. McCoy won the SDUSD VAPA Rising Star Award. This award was to recognize the work she did establishing community partnerships with TransenDance, Playwrights Project, The Old Globe, La Jolla Playhouse, and a theatre program she established prior to arriving at SDSCPA. |
