Spreading the word about SWAG 2021. SWAG (Students With Academic Goals) is a free, two-week college readiness program open to students in grades 9, 10 and 11. Applications are due April 25. Program dates: June 21-July 2. Parents, please also check to see if your student has a personal email listed in Naviance as not all messages of this kind are sent via School Messenger in addition to Naviance. We do not want you to miss out.
Some notes:
- How is SWAG changing? We have been doing the SWAG program in San Diego every summer since 2013. In 2021, it will be different in several ways. This summer, SWAG will be 100% online via Zoom. Another change: SWAG is no longer an SAT Prep Academy. Although it will include SAT/ACT preparation, our focus will be broader and include information on admissions, college essays and PIQs, financial aid and scholarships, college athletics, career focus, etc. Also, we are inviting students from Imperial County to apply. Having SWAG online makes it more accessible to students from various parts of San Diego and Imperial Counties.
- Upon successful completion, SWAG scholars with a UC San Diego offer of admission who meet income guidelines will be eligible for the UCSD CASP Scholarship. SWAG Certificate of Completion requires daily attendance, 9am-12pm.
- Priority given to low-income, first generation students.
- GPA minimums: 2.8 for 9th graders, 3.0 for 10th graders, 3.3 for 11th graders.
